Central Government delegation for Prime Minister’s Award led by Abhijeet Chakravarty inspected the Mahasamund District Hospital based Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre and Primary Health Centre, Birkoni where ‘Health Wednesday Day’ was being held.
‘Health Wednesday Day’ ‘Swasth Laika Jagruk Mahtari’ programme has been started in Mahasamund district to fight malnutrition among the children of the district where on each Wednesday, the malnutrition affected children undergo medical check-up at each Health Centre.
The Anganbadi workers identify the malnutrition affected children and bring them to the health centres. These children are then sent to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre.
District Hospital Mahasamund sources informed that children under the scheme while utilising funds from District Mineral Fund (DMF) are provided nutritious food like ‘Khichadi’, egg, banana among others. With the adoption of the scheme, more malnurished children were able to be identified and are being provided nutrition rehabilitation.
