With the rise in temperature recorded from mid March the weather activity has taken a turn recently in various parts of the state. Though marked as abrupt change in weather by general observers, the officials of the State Meteorological Centre state that the changed weather activity is a routine feature of pre monsoon season which is quite normal. Further, the agriculture in the state may experience a bit adverse effect though the hail and squall recorded from the various places of the state are normal.

Adding further in this scientist B Rohit Thapliyal of the State meteorological centre said, “The hail and squall activity in the state or even the rainfall activity is not high but a normal pre monsoon activity.”

Talking more about the damages by the recent weather activity to agriculture he said, “It is true that the squall and hail if recorded above normal can cause damage to the standing crops and fruits too as this is the flowering season. However, the squall or hails received so far in various places of the state are normal. It is likely that crops may have suffered serious damage in some places. In this season the farmers use hail net to protect their crops from the hail.”

Giving information about the warning given to specific areas with considerable agriculture in the state he said, “We give warning for the whole state. The farming types in plains and mountains region are different but a majority of places in the state have agricultural activity so no different warning is given by us. However, the farmers of any specific area rich in agriculture are given guidance accordingly. ”
