Reward of Rs 1 lakh  for police team that  arrested Sanjay Kol

Wednesday, 25 September 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

The state government announced a reward of Rs one lakh for the police team that arrested Sanjay Kol, a member of dreaded dacoit Babuli Kol, recently killed in an encounter by the Madhya Pradesh police in Satna district.

On September 20, the Chitrakoot police had succeeded in nabbing another member of the Babuli gang, Sohan Kol. Interestingly, the arrest of Sohan Kol also led to a dispute between UP and MP police as the dacoit arrested by the Chitrakoot police contradicted the ‘encounter’ theory of the MP police.

As per an official communiqué, the anti-dacoity cell of Chitrakoot police succeeded in netting Sanjay Kol of Tikuriya in Markundi police station after an encounter in the jungles of Gursarai on Monday night. Sanjay was carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh and on Tuesday, the state government announced to reward the team with an additional Rs one lakh for their bravery.

Meanwhile, in Kaushambi, a cash reward of Rs 25,000 each was announced for the arrest of two brothers accused of raping a Dalit girl in a village last week. The 16-year-old was raped by three men in a village under Sarai Akil police station limits on Saturday and the accused recorded the act.

Earlier, two policemen were taken off the investigation and sent to police lines over charges that they misbehaved with the complainant.

ADG, Prayagraj, Sujit Pandey visited the village and set up five teams for the arrest of the brother duo, identified as Badku and Chhutku, and said that NSA should be invoked against them.

While one of the accused, Mohammed Nazim, was thrashed by the villagers and handed over to the police, the brother duo managed to escape. A cash reward of Rs 25,000 each was also announced on their arrest.

The victim had gone out to collect fodder for cattle when the three miscreants dragged her to a secluded place and raped her.

The ADG also said that stern action should be initiated against those forwarding the explicit video made by the miscreants. The girl has been undergoing treatment in district hospital and adequate security has been provided to her. She has also been extended monetary help of Rs 4.12 lakh by the SC/ST Commission.
