Cash in the tune of Rs 29.98 lakh was recovered by Chainpur police on Wednesday in Palamu. DSP headquarters Sandip Kumar Gupta said the cash was in a bolero vehicle and was on way to Garhwa.
It was intercepted by police barely few hundred yards away from the Chainpur police station.The vehicle had the BJP flag. It had a Jharkhand registration number plate. There were three occupants of the car namely Sakaldeo Prajapati, K N Prajapati and M Yadav. Gupta said the three are residents of Garhwa district. The vehicle has been seized. The 3 are detained for quizzing by Income Tax officials, expenditure observer and police. Gupta said the investigation is on.
Sources said police and IT officials are trying to find out the source of cash, its purpose, transit mode, sender and receiver of the cash and big of all where this cash was to be spent.
