School teacher dies of cardiac arrest during election duty

An assistant school teacher, who was on an election duty at a polling booth in Antagarh of Kanker district died of a heart attack, on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tukalu Ram Nareti, officials said.

According to district administration officials, deceased Nartei, was on election duty at a Kamta polling booth (no. 186) in Kanker district.

Nareti complained of chest pain around 6 am in the morning and fell unconscious at the polling station. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead, the official said.

The body was sent for postmortem, he said. Another officer was deployed at the polling booth in place of Nareti, he added.

Notably, for three Lok Sabha seats - Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund – second phase of election was held on Thursday.
