State admin determined to prevent malpractices during State board exam

Wednesday, 23 January 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

With an objective to prevent the examination- related malpractices  during the ensuing board examination of Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP), the state chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh has directed the commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to appoint senior revenue officers as sector magistrates. As per the order, the city magistrates, deputy collectors, Pargana officers and their equivalents would be given charge of overseeing the conduct of the board examinations.

Each sector would have 10-12 examination centres. In the order, the CS has entrusted the sector magistrates with the responsibility of conducting smooth, peaceful and malpractice- free examinations.

These magistrates would convene a meeting of the education department officers and the principals and take necessary steps, said the order.

CS said that the sector magistrates would visit all the examination centres under their jurisdiction during the sessions of the examinations.

The sector magistrates would mark the sensitive and hyper sensitive examination centres and keep special focus on them, the order said.

The order further asked the district administration to keep an eye on any attempt to leak the question papers. CS stressed that the district administration would be held accountable for gathering of anti-social elements outside the examination centres.

The Class XII and X board examinations  of UVSP would commence on March 1 and end on March 26.

A total of 1,49,737 candidates are enrolled for  High school (Class X) examination of the board while 1,24,183 candidates have been registered for inter (Class XII) examination of the board this year. The UVSP has set up 1,313 examination centres for conducting the examination out of which 231 centres have been marked sensitive and 27 hyper-sensitive. The practical examinations would start on February 1 and end on February 24.

On its part, the UVSP has constituted three flying squads at  the state level to prevent unfair practices during the examination.

These squads are being headed by the director education, additional director secondary education and AD primary education. Apart from them, flying squads at the division and the district levels have also been set up.
