A three-day convention of the World renowned Indian History Congress will begin in Bhopal from February 26. Keeping in mind the historical importance of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal has been chosen for the convention.
The Convention is being organized under the aegis of the Barkatullah University, Bhopal. The Chief Minister has welcomed the step for organizing the convention in Bhopal.
The Indian History Congress is a prestigious organization of the Indian and Foreign Scholars and Historians besides educators and research scholars connected with the various aspects of history.
The organisation has promoted redefinition of history by conducting scientific and fair study of historical sources. As a result it has facilitated to understand the colonial preconception in restructuring the Indian history.
Some of the great scholars of the Indian History connected with this organisation have given significant contributions in building the nation by chiefly bringing to light the mixed culture, diversified regional traditions besides communities and cultures of people living together since ages.
The leading historians of the Indian History Congress have also given important contributions in building broad identity of Indian citizens.
It may be mentioned that the Savitri Bai Phule University of Pune had expressed its inability in organizing the 79th Convention of the Indian History Congress by given a reason of economic crunch. Only three times in the history, the sessions of the Indian History Congress were cancelled due to the incidents of national importance.
The conventions had been cancelled the first time in 1942 at the time of Quit India Movement and second and third time at the time of war in the year 1962 and 1971.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh while understanding the historical importance of the Indian History Congress has supported the step to organize the convention in the state.
