Toddler crushed to death by unknown vehicle in Preet Vihar

In a suspected case of hit-and-run, a two year-old toddler was allegedly mowed down by an unidentified vehicle in East Delhi’s Preet Vihar area. The incident occurred on Tuesday night.

The boy has been identified as Priyansh. Police said that his father, Mohan (26) works as a domestic help at a house in Preet Vihar C-block.

According to Jasmeet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East district, a police control room (PCR) call was received around 9.30 pm on Tuesday from Max Hospital that a 2-year-old child has been admitted to hospital with alleged injury of road traffic accident.

“During initial investigation, it was revealed that Priyansh came out of his house in C block, Preet Vihar alone and was hit by an unknown vehicle. When his father came out of the house, he found Priyansh lying unconscious on the road. He along with his employer took the child to Max hospital where the child was declared brought dead,” said the DCP.

“On the basis of the statement given by the child’s father, a case under section 279/304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Preet Vihar Police Station. Further police teams are scanning CCTV footage in the area to identify and trace the vehicle,” said the DCP.
