Two girls commit suicide in Simdega

In a shocking incident, bodies of two young girls were found hanging from tree at Arani Village under Simdega Police Station in Simdega district on Sunday. On recovering the bodies, police sent them for postmortem and started investigating the case.

Simdega Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Kumar informed that prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide but police is investigating other angles too.

“The girls were identified as 18-year-old Sardha Soreng, daughter of Vijay Soreng and a resident of Patra Toli under Simdega Police Station and Sunandi Bage daughter of Vijay Bage resident of Jipatoli, under Gunandia Police Station of the district. Police recovered bags from the spot which belongs to the girls. A knife, rope, blade, cloths and passport size photographs were recovered from the bags,” said the SP.

Kumar said that it I too early to comment on the issue as investigation is under process and only after receiving the postmortem report and complete investigation, the reason of death can be confirmed.

Officer in charge at Simdega Police Station, Ravindra Prasad Singh informed that Sardha’s mother Vimla Soreng informed Police that Sardha went to school on Saturday and did not return. “She was a student of Class 9 at St Mary’s School situated at Virmitrapur. Sardha and Sunandi were friends. Sunandi’s family members have been informed about the incident but till now they have not approached us, neither have they said anything regarding the reason of death,” he added.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a young girl died in a road accident in Ranchi on Saturday night.  The accident occurred near Kanatatoli under Lower Bazar Police Station.

Officer in charge of Lower Bazar Police Station, Satish Kumar, said that the incident took place on Saturday night around at 9 PM when two girls, both being residents of Kuraishi Muhalla, Kantatoli under Lower Bazar Police Station were crossing the road were hit by an SUV.

 “It was a hit and run case. The SUV (Scorpio) drive drove off after hitting the girls. We are still trying to identify the vehicle,” Kumar said.

He informed that after being injured, the two girls were rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science for treatment and where one girl lost her life. “Her body has been sent for postmortem. The second girl is still under treatment,” the OC said.
