To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Viswa Hindu Parishad in collaboration with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will organise a two day international seminar on September 13 and 14.
The civic body also observed 'Hindi Month' on Thursday to mark the 'Hindi Diwas' with the aim to popularise the language.
NDMC Secretary Rashmi Singh said that Hindi is a rich and beautiful language because of its rich literature and vocabulary and at the same time it comes from one's core of heart. "Hindi songs, poems and couplets very sweet and melodies touching the heart and sentiments of the people, who love to read it. Above all it is the language of the common man while allowing informally also fosters respect for elders," she said.
Outlining the details of the programmes being organised by the civic body, she said that during the 'Hindi Month' various competitions consisting of speech, essay writing, poems and other activities will be organised to promote the language. Singh further said that over 1000 employees of various departments of the NDMC are participating in these competitions.
