Virasat-2019: Heritage walk, vintage motor rally & music enthrall visitors

The Virasat festival on Sunday saw various activities ranging from heritage walk and vintage car and bike rally to musical performances in the evening. The day began with the colonial and Afghan links heritage walk led by Ghanshyam Rai. The walk started from Gandhi Park and ended at Clock Tower. It took the walk participants to places like Astley Hall, Survey Chowk, Rangers College and Clock Tower and explored the history of these places.

During the afternoon, State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat and environmentalist Anil Joshi visited the stalls and interacted with the organisers at the festival venue. A vintage and class car and bike rally was also held on Sunday. More than 100 vehicles of various vintage participated. Among the oldest models were a 1930 Austin and 1938 Harley Davidson.

Later during the day, Goff dance- a group folk dance of Goa was performed. Carnatic vocal performance by Abhishek Raghuraman was also appreciated by the gathering. Performance by noted Sufi singer Puranchand Wadali and his son Lakhwinder was also appreciated by the audience during the night.
