A district-level work plan framed to prevent and prohibit the child marriage as well as empowerment of adolescents in Rayagada district was held under the chairmanship of the district Collector and District Nodal Officer Pramod Kumar Behera for prohibition of child marriage. The meeting was organised jointly by the district administration, the District Child Protection Unit, Rayagada, ActionAid Association and Unicef, Odisha.
Departments like Police, Education, Skill Development, Social Security, Health, Sports and Youth Services, SC and ST Development, Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti took the responsibilities to create awareness at community level so that every person can have the knowledge on bad impact and insecurity of child labour and child marriage.
It was also decided that the age bar should not be limited to 18 years in case of girl and 21 years in case of boy, if they are interested to involve themselves in skill development or higher education.
They should also decide their age of marriage so that an economic sound environment can be established.
For this, community and society should encourage the adolescents and youth masses.
Among others, Secretary, DLSA, Rayagada, Manoraranjan Mishra, Additional Superintendent of Police, V Raghunath Rao, District Education Officer Purna Chandra Bariha were present.
