Xavier Institute holds 63rd annual convocation

The momentous occasion of 63rd Annual Convocation was celebrated at XLRI- Xavier School of Management withgreat zeal on Saturday. Students donned their graduation hats and gowns and received their medals and certificates in the presence of T. V Narendran, Chairman, Board of Governors at XLRI & MD - Tata Steel India and South East Asia, Fr. E Abraham SJ, Director of XLRI, Dr. Ashis K Pani, Dean, Academics at XLRI and other dignitaries.

On this significant day, 518 XLRI students received their graduating certificates and medals including – 182 & 179 students of Postgraduate Programmes in Management - BM and HRM; 109  students of 15-months PGDM (General Management) Programme; 11 students of Fellow Program in Management (FPM) and  37 students of  2016–2019 batch of  PGDM-BM Programme (Evening).

The first five rank holders in the Two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (HRM) 2017-19 batch are Parishmita Basu, Gunika Bahal, Jasdeep Singh,Prakhar Pathak and Shashank respectively.

The first five rank holders in the Two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (BM) 2017-19 batch are Varsha Bondada, Pratik Agarwal, Saurabh Mathur, Aishwarya Hemant Jain and Mahesh Venkatasubramanian respectively.

The first five rank holders in the Postgraduate Diploma in General Management (GM) – 15 -Months Programme2017-18 batch are V Ravi,  Mayukh Chaudhuri,Arindam Roy Chowdhury, Ananya Nagar andVinay Mall (both fourth rank) and   Shekhar Suman respectively.

The first five rank holders in the Three-Year Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management – Evening Programme 2016 - 19 batch are Zia Ahmad, Mohsin Azad Kadarbhai, Prasanjit Saha, Payal Banerjee andRishi Gupta respectively.

Congratulating the students on their

graduation day,  TV Narendran,Chairman, Board of Governors, XLRI said, “As you join the remarkable network of XLRI alumni; let the value education that has been imparted to you in the preceding two years be a guiding force to help enable you to make this world more sustainable and livable for future generations. I urge you to espouse a professional and ethical attitude in your work-life journey and try to give back to the society to the extent possible.”

Fr. E Abraham SJ, Director, XLRIcongratulated the graduating students and advised them to uphold the values they have imbibed at XLRI – to be responsible leaders who are extraordinary professionals with a sensitive conscience. 

He said in his address,“We have had successful year in 2018-19 and it is the result of our teamwork and our determination to take this institution forward and make it globally competitive while ensuring we help shape responsible and ethical business leaders for the greater common good.”

This year XLRI conferred the prestigious ‘Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace’ on Padmashri Anu Aga, Former Chairperson of Thermax Ltd. She also delivered the Convocation Address.

Father Abraham further added, “Padmashri Anu Aga is one of India’s most influential corporate leaders and a notable philanthropist.

Her work as a responsible leader and contribution to the society echoes XLRI’s philosophy – ‘For the Greater Good’.  We are immensely happy to present this year’s ‘Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace’ to Mrs. Anu Aga in appreciation of her multi-dimensional accomplishments.”
