KJo unveils his wax statue

Filmmaker Karan Johar was surrounded by the love of his family and friends as he unveiled his wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore.

Sharing the photographs of his waxed doppelganger on Instagram, Karan wrote, “Waxed at Singapore Madame Tussauds.”

The 46-year-old director was accompanied by his mother Hiroo Johar on the occasion. “What fun with my mom and my family, and my surprise from friends who are too shy to be named,” he added. Karan’s, who has become the first Indian filmmaker to make his mark at Tussauds, wax figure is inspired by his signature seflie pose, and is dressed in a printed blazer.

‘Kashmiris are presented as anti-nationals as only pictures of stone-pelting youngsters are coming out. It is but obvious to assume that they are anti-nationals because they are throwing stones at the Army. But do we really know how they are harassed every single day, just to live a normal life.’

Director Paakhi Tyrewala, who wrote and directed the Sikkimese feature film Pahuna: The Little Visitors, says she faced hurdles in the journey as people did not take women directors seriously even just a few years ago.

Paakhi said, “Pahuna... is not a commercial film. Many people questioned me why I am not making the film in Hindi and then things started coming out of nowhere that I am a woman director. Three years ago, there were not many female directors. But many women filmmakers are now coming out and have started receiving equal representation in the industry. However, we still face many issues.”
