Saturday, 08 August 2020 | PNS | Bokaro

Eight bank employees of State Bank of India main branch Sector 4, contracted coronavirus in the city raising concerns among the fraternity. On Thursday late night 12 new cases of COVID-19 infection surfaced in the district including eight bank’s employees, informed Rajesh Kumar Singh Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.

The new positives cases include a 23-year-old man who caught by the police for illegally selling liquor under B S City Police Station; a 55-year-old staff from Sadar Hospital, 44-year-old woman from Camp 2;  51-year-old staff from Chas Block office and 8 staffs (six male and two female) of SBI main branch Sector 4. All have been shifted to COVID Hospital, he said.

Following the positive report of the bank’s staff, their colleagues are worried now. Though employees are using masks, gloves and sanitisers, over 200-300 people visit the bank branch every day and so, the risk always exists. Anybody visiting the bank could be an untested carrier of coronavirus, says an employee on anonymity. Meanwhile, 11 more patients including a 65 years elderly man were discharged from district COVID Care center after they tested negative for the Sars-Cov-2 virus for the second time and sent back to their home after recovering fully, said the DC.

Congratulating the doctors and his team for this glorious achievement Singh said, Coronavirus infection can be avoided only by social participation.

All the warriors are doing better. We are proud of all of you, he said. “It’s a very happy moment for everyone, that all the patients are cured and back home. But it’s no time for relaxing,” added the DC.

District administration provided medical kits and infection-free certificates to the patients who were discharged and they were instructed to stay in their homes for 14 days in quarantine. They all have been asked to be alert and keep the surrounding neighbourhood aware of this deadly virus.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, monitoring teams have been constituted at the district and block level; will keep a watch on maintaining SOP norms by the mass.
