Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday launched a fresh attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party for bringing “anti-farmer” laws like Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
Party senior leader and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann and AAP MLA Jarnail Singh Mann said that after AAP and farmer protest, Akali Dal and Congress have taken U-turn on the MSP ordinance bills and this is our victory.
Mann said that both Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal from Congress supported these bills in the preparatory stage. “These anti-farmer bills should have been stopped when these were in the preparatory stage only and Akali Dal Cabinet Minister Shrimati Harsimrat Kaur should have resigned on the day when these bills were tabled for Cabinet nod,” he said.
Singh said that AAP will continue its protest inside and outside the Parliament, and apprise people that both SAD and Congress are anti-farmer.
Mann said, " I want to say that whatever these parties do the BJP will pass these bills in Loksabha as they have the majority but in Rajya Sabha, if the opposition comes together then there might be a chance to stop these bills. AAP is protesting against these bills inside the Parliament and in Punjab also we are protesting on the roads against these bills."
