The State Cabinet decided to restructure the cadre of Odisha Diploma Engineers’ Services by way of reducing the residency period of regular Junior Engineers for promotion to the rank of Assistant Engineers from four years to one year.
It also decided to upgrade the posts of the Junior Engineers to the grade of Assistant Engineers from 50% to 60%, enhancing the promotional quota of Assistant Engineers (diploma holders) to the rank of Assistant Executive Engineers from 33% to 40%.
The total cadre strength would remain intact and the Water Resources Department would be declared as the nodal department for all engineering departments.
