Chandigarh: Punjab State Information Commission (PSIC) is back to being fully functional and ensuring implementation of Right to Information Act, 2005, by holding a majority of hearings via videoconference or web meetings. Spokesperson said that even during the curfew and lockdown, the Commission remained open to hear cases that pertained to matters of life and liberty, for which, a Double Bench comprising the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Suresh Arora and State Information Commissioner Asit Jolly was constituted on April 16.
Document verification postponed by Govt
Chandigarh: Punjab NRI Affairs Department has postponed document verification work of those desirous to go abroad till further orders due to the growing threat of corona epidemic. The state Additional Chief Secretary, NRI Department, Kirpa Shankar Saroj on Wednesday said that the work of verification of documents of persons, wishing to go abroad, was being done at the office of Punjab Civil Secretariat-II, Sector-9, Chandigarh, which would be postponed from July 9 till further orders. He appealed to the people not to visit the office, adding that they would be informed about the resumption of work when situation returns to normal.

Chandigarh: The 1994-batch IAS officer Alok Shekhar, currently serving as the Principal Secretary, General Administration and Coordination, in addition to Principal Secretary, Science Technology and Environment, has been given the additional charge of the vacant posts of Principal Secretary, Investment Promotion; Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce and Principal Secretary, Information Technology.
