IndianOil is completely prepared to roll out BS-VI petrol and diesel through its network of 1,616 retail outlets (ROs) in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
While talking to media persons here on Thursday, V Satish Kumar, Executive Director & State Head, Madhya Pradesh State Office (MPSO), said that IndianOil refineries, pipelines, storage terminals and retail outlets have been upgraded and comply with stringent quality control measures to ensure supply of BS-VI fuel. For IndianOil, the planned expenditure for transition to BS-VI was approximately Rs. 17,000 crore.
Notably, the country will leapfrog directly from BS-IV to BS-VI fuels, and the BS-VI standards will be implemented in the entire country wef. April 1, 2020. BS-VI fuels will have sulphur content of 10 ppm, a reduction of 80 per cent – from the 50 ppm sulphur content prescribed in the BS-IV specification. Also, BS-VI fue will enable a reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) from diesel cars by 68% and heavy-duty vehicles by 82%, and from petrol vehicles by 25%. Particulate matter (PM) emissions will also come down significantly, by 87% and 67& for Diesel cars and heavy-duty vehicles, respectively.
IndianOil MPSO has eight supply terminals/ depots and has started supplying BS-VI quality fuel to our retail outlets meeting the norms of sulphur content below 10 ppm. With a network of 1,616 Retail outlets in MP, IndianOil is committed to delivering BS-VI quality fuel by April 1, 2020 to general public.
The company has also commissioned 116 new ROs and 7 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations (April-Feb 2020) that provide employment to locals and an environment-friendly fuel, while as on date, in MP, 25% of overall transactions at ROs are digital transactions, promoting a cashless economy.
Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the number of PMUY connections released by IndianOil pan-India is 3.5 crore. More than 34 lakhs families in MP were provided LPG connections under the scheme.
The LPG penetration in the country has improved from 56% in 2014 to 97% presently. “With a total 170 lakh registered LPG customers, OMCs have reached 96.4% penetration in MP as on date, compared to 51.9% in 2016,” said Satish Kumar.
