To mitigate the hardship of migrant workers on road, the Youth for Social Development (YSD), a NGO working with the poor on humanitarian assistance, has supported such poor people.

With the support from Oxfam-India, the YSD has targeted to feed 500 walking migrants every day on the National Highway. Nearly 2,000 migrants have received cooked food, dry food and water in last four days.

These walking migrants have also been provided transit bus support by the YSD.

In Ganjam district NGOs Aruna, Isara and Prem in association with the DRDA Ganjam provided food, drinking water and other essentials to these hapless people. They have supported more than 3,000 walking migrants in last last six days of our operation “SUGAM” with the able guidance by Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Ganjam, Siddharth Shankar Swain and APD Laxmi Narayan Panigrahy.

Lokanath Misra of ARUNA, Bibhu Prasad Sahu of YSD and Rabindra Nath Patro of ISARA, Ratan Misra of PREM have been closely executing the operation with more than 25 volunteers with protecting them with Covid-19 protocols.
