Friday, 13 March 2020 | PNS | ROURKELA

The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has suspended with the biometric attendance system in a precautionary measure to avoid the risk of infection of coronavirus through contact, till March 31.

The management has instructed its employees to mark their attendance in manually in registers during the period. Besides, the RSP, the authorities of the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR) have also decided to do away with the biometric attendance system till further order.

It may be noted here that on January 30, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of World Health Organisation declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. It is a contagious disease and people can get infected by touching the communicated surface or objects. So after this the Supreme Court of India suspended the biometric attendance machine and introduced their attendance system manually in the attendance register.
