PCI decries attack on scribe

The Press Council of India (PCI) has sought comments from the State Government in connection with reported attack on a journalist after having taken suo motu cognisance of a report of the alleged incident.

The report related to journalist Mahadev Nayak, who was allegedly kept hostage in a Temporary Medical Centre (TMC) and whose media equipment was damaged at Korua panchayat under Naugaon block in Jagatsinghpur district when he was purportedly reporting on violation of Covid-19 guidelines by Naugaon Sarpanch Aranya Nayak who was in quarantine.

Taking cognisance in the matter, the PCI has on Thursday called for comments from the State Government.
