Raghubar, Munda to woo EBC, tribal voters in Bihar

Friday, 09 October 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

In a bid to woo extremely backward caste and tribal voters in poll bound Bihar, the Bihar BJP has decided to rope in former chief minister Raghubar Das and Union Tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda to hold meetings in Bihar.

Both the leaders will hold virtual meetings targeting the voters. A senior BJP leader requesting anonymity said, "While Das will reach out to Extremely Backward Caste members having influence at many constituencies. Union tribal affairs minister, Arjun Munda will woo tribal voters which plays a crucial role in many neighbouring districts of Jharkhand."

The leader claimed that Das is senior leader and his reaching out to the EBC community will only strengthen the party further. "Das has already participated in 45 virtual Assembly meetings and is likely to hold a few more in coming days," said the leader.

Apart from Das and Munda holding meetings, the Jharkhand BJP leaders will assist Bihar BJP in organisational setup in elections. More than 150 BJP leaders headed by State BJP organizational secretary Dhrampal Singh are camping in Bihar. These leaders will provide logistical support to BJP cadres in Bihar.

State BJP spokesperson Pradeep Sinha said, "More than 150 BJP cadres will assist Bihar BJP leaders in 11 districts. These eleven districts comprise more than 60 Assembly seats. Most of the Assembly segments are in neighbouring districts of Bihar such Gaya, Aurangabad, Jamui, Banka, Nawada and others."

Sinha said that the work of these Jharkhand BJP leaders will be from assisting in booth management, looking for a booth committee and others. As the Jharkhand BJP leaders will assist Bihar BJP leaders, these leaders will check whether the booth committee has been constituted properly and also check the authenticity of booth committee members.

As the social political spectrum of both Bihar and Jharkhand is same, Bihar BJP leaders too had provided help and assistance to Jharkhand BJP leaders during the last year Assembly election in Jharkhand.

The three phase Assembly election in Bihar will be held from October 28 to November 7. The counting of votes and results will be announced on November 10. The Bihar assembly election is going to have a multi cornered contest with BJP and JDU along with two other parties comprising NDA. The UPA alliance has Congress, RJD and left parties. The third alliance is of LJP and fourth is of Jan Adhikar Manch of Pappu Yadav and others.
