In a bid to boost trade and business activity in surrounding areas of the State Capital, Business Development Unit (BDU) formed by the Ranchi Rail Division held talks on Wednesday with apex traders’ body of the State- Federation of Jharkhand Chamber and Commerce and Industries (FJCCI). The initiative was taken after the Union Ministry of Railways issued instruction to form the units at zonal and divisional levels.
Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Neeraj Kumar is Coordinator of the BDU and other members of the unit are Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Avnish, Senior Divisional Finance Manager, Shantanu Mukherjee and Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Siddharth Pradhan.
Talking to The Pioneer, Kumar informed that the business and trade activity in the entire Country and the State is not growing according to requirements after announcement of lockdown due to outbreak of COVID 19. To boost the trade and business the unit held talks with members of the FJCCI Working Committee, he added.
During the meeting, the unit's members and FJCCI members talked comprehensively on the present trade and business scenario. They also suggested working on some problems to intensify on some issues so that the business activity could run on fast track.
The railway's officials assured them they will help the traders' to as much as they can to improve the present scenario.
Kumar said that in the current situation, increasing the capacity of freight will be the main objective of the unit and apart from traditional loading; the unit will also try to attract more future shipments. Suggestions and proposals will be invited by the unit, mainly in the work of the board and by contacting other traders, and entrepreneurs are taking their problems seriously, they will be resolved promptly.
"The goal of this business development unit is to double the freight capacity by the year 2024, as well as to coordinate with the people of the trade and industry, encourage them for greater cargo loading and diagnose the problems faced by the freight. With the formation of this unit, a new and easy platform will be available to the people of the trade and industry sector and from time to time the members of the unit will meet businessmen, entrepreneurs and small and middle class promoters, so that they can give their suggestions and problems to the railways without difficulty. Therefore, after the formation of this unit, people of the industry can contact the BDU of Ranchi Railway Division," said Kumar.
