‘QAT' gives more teeth to Palamu police

Thursday, 15 April 2021 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Palamu police's QAT (quick action team) is proving a shot in the arms of the district police said sources.

Launched just a few days ago by the SP Palamu Sanjeev Kumar this QAT comprising 21 combatants armed to the teeth and possessing mental and physical toughness to override any challenging situation has proved its worth in one  anti naxal operation and in one other drive against the organized criminals in this short span of coming into the formation  said the immediate commanding officer of QAT K Vijay Shankar assistant superintendent of police Palamau.

SP Sanjeev Kumar said this outfit is equipped with a survival kit to enable it to brave the vagaries of Nature as well as to tame and contain the naxals, criminals, gangsters etc at the shortest notice to act and intervene.

Answering a query if this outfit is trained in jungle warfare to which the SP said this outfit has had its combat training at the hands of the CRPF here.

In response to one more  query if this QAT be seen as an alternate to the CRPF or a substitute of it or a replacement of the CRPF K Vijay Shankar said the CRPF is an elite force and has a long standing expertise and specializing  in tackling extremism, countering insurgency and is far more and advanced equipped force and so even remotely ours QAT is not any replacement of the CRPF.

Shankar said the formation of the QAT is indicative of our boys' capability to take on the challenges thrown by the extremists and the criminals on their own  and thus not to look towards the CRPF every now and then even for small surgical intervention.

Reminded that security forces in the jungles tracking or smoking out naxals from the holes have faced episodes of the snake bites and striking by the lightning in Palamu to which Vijay Shankar said our boys will handle it as this outfit has pouches of life saving medicines too.
