Delhi Deputy Chief Minister on Thursday announced that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will provide up to 300 units of free electricity to domestic users in Uttar Pradesh if the party is voted in the upcoming Assembly polls.

While the AAP has made its stand clear that it will not enter into any pre-poll alliance with any political party, Sisoida ensured people of UP that it will cancel pending electricity bills if it comes in power.

Briefing the media from Lucknow, the AAP leader, Sisoida said, “Under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal people in Delhi are getting zero electricity bills. We will do the same in Uttar Pradesh”

Pertinently, the party has made similar promises in many states where Assembly polls are due next year. These states are – Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa. “There are 4.8million families in Uttar Pradesh that receive hefty electricity bills, pending bills will be cancelled,” Sisodia said.

Lauding Delhi’s governance model in Lucknow, he said, “Before 2015, Delhi had a huge demand for generators and inverters. But not anymore as people are getting 24*7 uninterrupted power supply.”

Sisodia said that UP people are suffering from expensive electricity bills. The farmers are sad that the price of their crops has not been increased, but the electricity bills have increased.

Electricity has become so expensive in Uttar Pradesh that people are getting 1-1.5 lakh bills in their homes and their monthly income is only 10 thousand rupees. The Government is declaring them criminals for not paying the bills. “Many people committed suicide due to expensive electricity bills. Aligarh farmer Ramji Lal committed suicide due to non-payment of electricity bill; a 17-year-old girl committed suicide in Etah and wrote in her suicide note that her father is not a criminal for not paying the electricity bill,” he added further.

He announced free electricity for farmers of Uttar Pradesh. AAP has announced that it will contest 100 Assembly seats out of 403 in Uttar Pradesh for which it has announced names of probable candidates.
