80% oxygen made in C’garh to be given as ‘medical oxygen’

In view of a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases and deaths, 80 percent of the total oxygen produced in Chhattisgarh will be supplied for medical purposes to hospitals in the state, it was announced on Sunday.

A notification to this effect has been issued by the Health Department under the Epidemic Diseases Act following a directive of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, a press release said.

The manufacturers have been told to supply 80 percent of the total oxygen produced in their units to hospitals as medical oxygen, it said.

In case of further requirement, the remaining 20 percent of the oxygen produced will also be given to the hospitals, it added.

The manufacturers have been asked to ensure uninterrupted production of oxygen in their units.

All Divisional Commissioners and Collectors have been asked to ensure proper implementation of the order. On Saturday, 14,098 new coronavirus cases were reported and 97 patients died in Chhattisgarh.
