In view of bird flu alert in the State, the Himachal Government on Monday decided to extend the ban on entry of poultry and poultry products into the state from neighbouring states for another one week. A notification to this effect has been issued by the State government on Monday.
The decision is taken after the avian influenza- H5N8 was confirmed in dead poultry birds found in the border areas of the state. Earlier, H5NI was found in dead birds at Pong wetland in Kangra district.
Till now, 4936 migratory birds have died due to bird flu at Pong wetland.
Himachal Animal Husbandry Minister Virender Kanwar on Monday said that keeping public health in view, the State Government has temporarily extended the ban on entry of poultry and poultry products into the state from neighbouring states for another one week.
He said that bird flu was notified in the state on January 6 after detection of the virus in Pong Dam wetland.
