Chief Minister Hemant Soren today tweeted appealing to people of the State to follow the Health Safety Week being implemented from 6 AM on May 16 with stricter norms and attached a press release with his tweet clarifying the e-pass system for movement of people in the State on Saturday.
He said that it was decided to tighten the rules under 'Health Safety Week' to break the chain of coronavirus infection from 6 AM from May 16. “In this regard, many types of misconceptions are being heard among the public. Therefore, the following instructions (attached with the tweet) will give you more clarity in the rules that will be applicable from tomorrow,” he said in the tweet.
“This battle for the next 12 days will strengthen our struggle against Corona and we will surely be able to overcome this epidemic. Also, let me tell you that more than 1.25 lakh e-passes have been issued so far. It is very easy, accessible and free to take, and it will take only a few minutes to take it. For e-pass, you can go to https://epassjharkhand.nic.in, issue a pass and join us in this decisive battle with Corona to become a Corona Warrior,” he stated.
Meanwhile, there was an ample amount of confusion among the common masses regarding the e-pass system as they were unable to understand whether they need an e-pass for movement between 6 AM and 2 PM.
“I have to receive my niece from the airport tomorrow. Do I need an e-pass for the same? Where can I get this information?” asked GS Sarangi, a resident of Ratu Road.
Similar were the concerns of Morhabadi resident JP Singh, who needs to buy medicines for her ailing wife. “Many people are saying that even commuting by a two-wheeler will require a pass. I have read the SDMA order released for the purpose it allows movement of people between 6 AM and 2 PM, but at another point it says anyone who wants to commute by a vehicle will need an e-pass. How many times will I need an e-pass for buying milk, vegetables, medicines etc?” he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, a PIL was also filed at the Jharkhand High Court seeking to end the intricacies of the e-pass system. A special request has been made to the Court for early hearing on this PIL.
