Drug worth Rs 1.36 crore seized in Baleswar, 2 held

Continuing its crackdown against illegal trade of drugs, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch seized a huge cache of brown sugar worth Rs 1.36 crore from the Sahadevkhunta area in Baleswar district on Friday. Acting on a tipoff, an STF team conducted a raid in the area and nabbed two drug peddlers, Manas Mukhi of Aradabazar and Kamalkanta Das of Haripur, and seized 1.36 kg of brown sugar from their possession.

 The police further seized a stolen motorcycle without a registration number and other incriminating materials from their possession.

The accused were produced before the court on Saturday. A case under Sections 21(c) and 29 of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against them. The two are also involved in many other criminal cases,” informed police sources.
