A minor girl was killed and four others were injured when a car by which they were travelling and a truck collided head on near Katikata Chhak under the Nischintakoili police limits in Cuttack district on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sarita Malik (17). The injured, identified as Debashish Mohanty, Bababi Malik, Biswajit Malik and Sandhyarani Malik, were hospitalised. According to reports, the victims were bringing an ailing person in the car to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar from Binjharpur in Jajpur district when the collision took place between the vehicle and the tipper truck. After being hit by the truck, the car dashed against a roadside tree, killing the girl on the spot.
Being informed, police reached the place, rescued the injured persons, and admitted them to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.The driver and helper of the truck fled the spot after the mishap. Police seized the vehicle and started an investigation into the incident.
