An 18-year-old Dalit girl alleged that she was molested by a worker of a private hospital where she was admitted for treatment. The incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday in Mathura’s Kotwali Nagar.
The accused, identified as Shyam Gujjar, has been booked. He joined the hospital three days ago. The girl was admitted to the hospital after she complained of severe abdominal pain.
After examining her, doctors gave her a painkiller. The girl alleged that when she was half asleep, Shyam Gujjar allegedly touched her inappropriately and tried to molest her. The accused ran away when the girl hurriedly woke up. She informed her family members about the incident and a complaint was lodged.
Police registered an FIR against Gujjar, who was yet to be arrested. He was charged under sections 354/323/504 of IPC along with SC/ST Act.
CO Varun Kumar assured the girl’s family that Gujjar would be arrested soon. The girl’s family said they wanted the police to examine the CCTV footage to gather more evidence against the accused.
