Hacking phones is threat to national security: Oraon

On the phone hacking of the leaders, media personnel by the Modi Government through the Israel spyware Pegasus, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) Chief, Dr Rameshwar Oraon, while addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan, in the State Capital on Tuesday said that this step by the BJP Government is a threat to national security and is killing fundamental rights and constitutional duties in broad daylight.

“Just as the information about the hacking of the phone of Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, including some former Union Minister, present and former Journalists, officials of Security Forces and others has come to the fore. This shows how the Modi Government is violating privacy. This cannot happen without the consent of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of the Country. Therefore, their role should be fully investigated, the people of the Country also want to know that the Indian Government bought this illegal spyware by spending thousands of crores of rupees,” said Oraon.

JPCC Working president cum media in-charge, Rajesh Thakur, Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, Manas Sinha, JPCC Spokesperson Shamsher Alam, Rakesh Sinha, organization in-charge Ravindra Singh, Amulya Neeraj Khalkho were present in the press conference.

The JPCC Chief said that every issue which is related to National security, the Modi Government and its Ministers have been misleading the people of the Country. “Even today the new IT Ministers tried to mislead the Parliament, which is wrong in the interest of the Country. The people of the Country also need to know why the Modi Government was spying on its citizens and political leaders,” he added.

Oraon said that JPCC will hold a march to the Raj Bhavan on July 22 to demand a judicial inquiry into the incident and the resignation of Home Minister, Amit Shah.
