Amid a record spike in Covid-19 cases in the state, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana on Tuesday announced setting up of district level medical helpline numbers, state level helpline, preparing a directory of plasma donors among other initiatives to facilitate people in distress.

The party’s MPs and MLAs in Haryana have also been directed to constitute service teams of volunteers at 90 assembly constituencies to help people during these stressful times. The saffron party has also planned to rope in doctors and psychologists for tele-counseling service.

A series of decisions by the state party unit to reach out to the people have been taken following the directions from the central leadership.

In the past one week, Haryana has seen a major surge in infections, with over 6,000 to 7000 cases being reported on a daily basis. There are more than 45000 active cases in the state.

BJP state president Om Prakash Dhankar on Tuesday said that district level medical helpline numbers will be set up to provide services for 14 hours a day from 8 am to 10 pm and a state level helpline to maintain coordination with the district helplines on various issues.

“Three teams will work in shifts for 14 hours per day to facilitate people through district level medical helpline numbers in all 22 districts. All helpline numbers will be set up by Wednesday and would address the issues related to availability of beds, oxygen, ventilators, Remdesivir and other medicines, plasma donation, Ayush kits among others. The state level helpline is set up in Panchkula district to ensure effective coordination and management at district level,” Dhankar said while talking to the mediapersons here.

“The party has requested its members who are doctors and psychologists to volunteer for tele-counselling service in all districts. A list is being prepared in this regard,” he said.

With COVID-19 crisis turning from bad to worse in the state, the BJP has decided to constitute service teams at 90 assembly constituencies to address the grievances of residents and for doorstep delivery of essential items. Besides, Kisan Morcha has constituted teams for distribution of masks and sanitizers at over 300 crop procurement centres in the state.

Apart from this, the youth wing of the party has been asked to prepare a directory of plasma donors in all districts of the state and contact the organizations already working to connect plasma donors with the families of critically COVID-19 patients in the state.

Dhankar said, “The people of the state can also seek help related to supply of essential commodities like milk, medicines, ration among other items. The service helpline number will also be launched for the purpose and service teams will ensure delivery of such items at the doorstep.”
