Hooda expresses concern over grave unemployment in State

Monday, 26 July 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday expressed deep concern over the magnitude of unemployment in the state.

He said that unemployment levels in Haryana are three times higher than the national average.

The Leader of Opposition said that the situation of unemployment in the state is such that this month 8.39 lakh youth have applied for the recruitment of only 5500 constable posts. According to this year's economic survey also, about 9 lakh youth had registered in the employment exchange but only 2800 youth got the job, he said.

Even before this, when the government had taken out recruitment for 18 thousand peon posts and other fourth-class positions, lakhs of educated youth had applied. Not only this, about 25 lakh youth had applied for 6,000 posts for clerks, the senior Congress leader said.

Hooda reminded that in the past, about 7000 youths had applied for just 10 posts of peons in Jagadhri court and about 15,000 youths had applied for raw recruitment of 13 posts of peons in Panipat court.

He said candidates holding BA, MA, MSc, MCom, M.Phil and PhD degrees had also applied for the recruitment of peons where the minimum qualification was 8th pass.

The former Chief Minister said the policies of the government are directly responsible for the rising unemployment in the state.

“Today, the government is not able to provide enough jobs to make for the number of people retiring every year. The entire emphasis of the government is on retrenching employees and recruiting them on contract. The youth are being exploited mercilessly in the recruitment being done through contractors. They are being given temporary jobs by taking huge amounts,” he added.

Lashing out at the State Government, Hooda further said that the automobile sector, which is the largest employer, is also constantly moving to other states.

Due to unemployment, the youth of the state is moving towards drugs and crime. Instead of paying attention to this problem and finding a solution, the government, which specializes in event management, wants to hide its failures with the help of lies, making political comments, he added.
