EX-GRATIA, JOB FOR kin OF MARTYR PARWINDER SINGH

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs 50 lakh, along with government job to a family member of Naib Subedar Parwinder Singh from 22 Punjab, who laid down his life in High Altitude Area of Batalik sector (Leh) along the Line of Control. The Junior Commissioned officer is survived by his father, wife and two sons aged 11 and 13 years. Extending his sympathies to the family of the martyr, the Chief Minister said the state government would provide all possible help and support to them. The mortal remains of the martyr will be reaching his native place in Jagraon on February 28 (Sunday) and the cremation would be held the same day.

 

2 IAS officers transferred in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has issued transfer and posting orders of two IAS officers with immediate effect. Mahavir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kurukshetra has been posted as Director and Additional Secretary, Archaeology & Museums Haryana and Director and Additional Secretary, Archives Department.Preeti, awaiting orders of posting has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kurukshetra.

 

PUNJAB BHAWAN DECLARED EXTENDED PRECINCT OF HOUSE

Chandigarh:  Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh has declared the Punjab Bhawan, Sector-3, Chandigarh as an extended precinct of the House for the Budget session of 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha in view of resurging COVID-19 pandemic.  The order, issued by Secretary Punjab Vidhan Sabha reads that the 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha has been summoned to meet its 14th Session (Budget session) on March 1, 2021 (Monday) at 11:00 AM. In view of the rising COVID-19 epidemic, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh has ordered that Punjab Bhawan would be an extended precinct of the House from 10:00 PM on February 28, 2021 till the completion of proceedings of the 14th session of the house and all the rules and regulations of the house would be applicable in the extended precinct.

 

‘CBI must probe post-matric SC scholarship scam’

Chandigarh: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday blamed the Amarinder Singh government for meting out step motherly treatment to thousands of SC students after depriving them of their post-matric scholarship money and  thus languishing their future as students. In a statement Chugh said more than 50,000 SC students have been groping in darkness after their degrees are blocked due to non-payment of scholarship money.  Chugh said since 2017 more than Rs 1,870 crore had been embezzled by the Amarinder government at the cost of future of the SC students. He demanded CBI inquiry into the embezzlement of the central funds and demanded the state government to immediately help save the future of the SC students.

 

Public Transport expanded in Faridabad

Chandigarh: To expand public transport facility in Faridabad, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Pal Gurjar and Haryana Transport Minister, Mool Chand Sharma flagged off CNG city buses plying for Faridabad city on Saturday.

He said that this city bus service to Faridabad will be pollution-free and environment-friendly and this initiative will be effective in saving money and time.  He said that the people who have been using other transport facilities will now travel through this city bus service. Besides saving money and time, it will also lead to environmental protection. These 10 CNG buses will operate on different routes in Ballabhgarh, Greater Faridabad, Old Faridabad, NIT Metro, Railway stations and other public places across Faridabad city.
