In the first Sub Junior Boys Academy National Hockey Championship-2021 played in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, continuing its winning campaign, won the title by defeating Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Center 6-4 in a shootout in the final.
The finalatch was played on Wednesday. On the other hand, Roundglass Punjab Hockey Academy defeated SGPC Hockey Academy 5-1 in the third place match.
The championship was organized under the joint aegis of Hockey India and MP Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Sports Minister Hon. Yashodhara Raje Scindia has congratulated the team on the victory of MP Hockey Academy. He termed this victory of the team as a milestone.Both the teams performed brilliantly in the final match played on the turf ground of Sai Center Village Gora.
From the very first quarter, the players of MP Hockey Academy tried to create pressure. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy got a penalty stroke in the 10th minute of the match. Saddam Ahmed of MP Hockey Academy converted it into a goal to give the team a 1-0 lead. Under pressure, Odisha Naval Tata's team launched a swift attack.
In the second quarter too, Odisha Naval Tata made several attacks but were thwarted by goalkeeper Aman Khan of MP Hockey Academy.
In the shootout, goalkeeper Aman Khan of the team of MP Hockey Academy gave a brilliant performance and made three out of four defenses. At the same time, Goli Nelson Barla of Odisha Naval Tata's team could save only two goals out of five.
