Solar street lights, CCTV to be installed in Haryana villages

Haryana New and Renewable Energy Department will provide solar street lights and solar high mast lights at an estimated cost of Rs 21 crore in the current financial year to reduce the dependence on conventional electricity for street lighting in rural areas of the State.

Apart from this, to enhance security and prevent untoward incidents in villages, the Department will provide solar CCTVs with high mast lights.

Giving details,  Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, PK Das on Friday said that under its demand based SPV street lighting programme, New and Renewable Energy Department has made a provision of State financial assistance (subsidy) of Rs 4 crore in the annual plan of the current financial year for providing 5,000 LED based solar street lighting systems of 12 watt at the rate of  Rs 4,000 per system and 1,000 LED based solar high mast lighting systems of aggregate 88 watt LED with CCTV at the rate of  Rs 20,000 per system.  He said the tentative cost of each solar street light is Rs 14,000 and cost for solar high mast light is Rs 1,40,000 per system.

Das added to implement the scheme, e-tender has been issued by the Haryana Supply and Disposal Department for arranging the contract for the supply and installation of the above systems.

He said these systems would be installed in selected villages by Additional District Deputy Commissioners cum Chief Project Officers.
