Senior Congress leader and party candidate for the Brajrajnagar Assembly by-election Kishore Chandra Patel on Wednesday claimed that his party would surprise everyone in the by-poll.
Patel told reporters that the Congress is getting unprecedented support because voters have got fed up with the nonperformance of both BJD and BJP. "We have prepared a roadmap to develop Brajrajnagar as a model town. Lakhanpur block comprising 33 panchayats should be divided into three blocks so that people of every pocket could benefit and receive the resources they deserve,” he said.
He said, "Neither residents who were displaced due to the Hirakud Dam project nor those who were displaced due to coalmines have received their due compensation. Despite ample water availability, farmers are facing water scarcity for irrigation while the electricity price keeps rising. Youths are unemployed. Both BJD and BJP have failed to reopen the local paper mill. The town has been made an abode of ash and smoke.”
Patel added, “We will take these issues to the people and seek their support to dislodge the inept BJD regime. Congress workers will remind voters that most of the town's development had taken place during the Congress rule.”
