Anti-encroachment drive held at Samaypur Badli Metro Station

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Friday conducted anti-encroachment drive to remove the illegal encroachment in Samaypur Badli Metro Station, Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station and Prem Nagar area, during which 75 temporary structures were cleared from public land. The drive was not carried out at Bawana due to non availability of police force.

According to the Commissioner of NMC, Sanjay Goel, the civic body removed temporary encroachments from Samaypur Badli Metro Station to Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station in Rohini Zone and Prem Nagar area in Karol Bagh Zone.

“The encroachment removal drive was not carried out at JJ Colony in Bawana area due to non availability of police force,” he said.

“During the demolition drive in Rohini Zone from Samaypur Badli Metro Station to Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station around 75 temporary structures and Jhuggies along with permanent platforms, six wooden tables and wooden boards were removed with the help of one JCB bulldozer and six dumpers. Total six trucks of malba were removed from the site,” Goel said.

“In Prem Nagar, about 1000 sq meters of area got vacated with the help of local police and 25 municipal staff. Around 15 rounds of trucks and 60 rounds of garbage were removed from the site.

After the removal of garbage from the site, leveling work of the entire plot has been started,” he informed. Meanwhile, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) also removed the illegal encroachment in Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh, Dichaon Kalan, Roshanpura, Subhash Nagar and Vishnu Garden and razed over 15 illegally constructed rooms and 42 tin sheds.

According to a senior SDMC official, in an intensive drive, 15 illegally constructed rooms were razed in Goyla dairy and 42 tin sheds were dismantled. The civic agency squad also destroyed 40 Khors as well as six permanent stairs.

“In Najafgarh Zone, anti-encroachment drives were carried out in Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh, Dichaon Kalan, Roshanpura's Firni Mor, Som Bazar and Tuda Mandi red light area.

About 2000 metres of area was made encroachment free and 13 articles were seized,” he said.“In West Zone, anti-encroachment drives took place in Milap Nagar market, Shyam Nagar Khayala road coming under Subhash Nagar and Vishnu Garden areas. Nearly 1400 metres area was freed from illegal encroachment.  The civic body team had seized 20 articles and impounded two vehicles,” he added. On other hand, the NMC also wrote a letter to (SHO) of Pushpanjali Enclave police station, demanding the adequate force including women police officials, to remove illegal structures.
