Dairy, fish and poultry farms script success

 Jagatsinghpur Collector Parul Patwari on Monday visited some dairy, fish and poultry farms under Tirtol block in the district and discussed with the farm owners their success stories and problems and assured providing them necessary assistance.

  
Patwari went to the Tirtol dairy plant at Jaipur and inspected its infrastructures and production capacity. As many as 520 milk cooperative societies with 44,565 members have been supplying 80,000 litres of milk to this plant per day. The Collector planned for the plant’s modernisation and instructed to increase its capacity to 1,30,000 litres.

 

Then, she visited a pig farm operated by woman entrepreneur Rojalin Mohanty in Tarajanga panchayat. Rojalin, who has been awarded by the State Government for her entrepreneurship, informed that about 600 pigs under species of Large White Work Shire are in the farm, which has been supplying pigs to northern States, mainly Assam and West Bengal, regularly and there is a plan to enhance the farm’s capacity.


The Collector then visited the Sweta dairy farm at Tainra village which has been set up with modern infrastructures. There are 120 cows of several species in the farm producing about 800 to 900 litres of milk, informed farm owner Sanjay Khuntia. The Collector assured him assistance if he seeks it from her.


A fish farm owned by Sourav Biswal in Tulanga panchayat has been producing 500 to 700 quintals of fish per annum. The owner has adopted the ‘In Pond Race Way’ technique of producing and processing fish. The Collector praised him for his efforts in getting himself employed and providing jobs to others.
