In a relief to suspended Indian Police Service (IPS) and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gurjinder Pal Singh, the Chhattisgarh High Court on Thursday grated him conditional bail.
Advocate Ashutosh Pandey, who pleaded for Singh, told The Pioneer that Justice Dipak Kumar Tiwari granted him the bail on the condition that he will stay outside Raipur and will be available at the High Court when needed.
He was jailed on charges of amassing disproportionate properties. The Anti-Corruption Bureau Economic Offence Wing of the Chhattisgarh Police arrested Singh in January this year from Gurugram and brought him to Raipur.
Singh, who was posted as Director of the state police academy, was suspended on July 5, 2021 after a case was lodged against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Economic Offence Wing (EOW).
A case of holding disproportionate assets was filed after the ACB/EOW carried out raids at around 15 locations linked to the officer.
