The Uttarakhand Congress has questioned the foreign tour of the State's Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj at a time when the tourism season is at its peak in the state and an unprecedented rush of pilgrims is creating a stress on the available resources and facilities in Char Dham. Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and MLA from Chakrata assembly constituency Pritam Singh said on Wednesday that it seems that the tourism minister Satpal Maharaj is not at all concerned about the state. “He actually is not tourism minister of Uttarakhand but is International Tourism minister. When he is in Uttarakhand, Maharaj only talks about foreign countries and not about the state,’’ said Pritam Singh while interacting with the media persons on Wednesday.
It is pertinent to mention here that the tourism minister Maharaj is on a visit to Dubai.
Expressing concern over the deaths of pilgrims in the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, the Congress leader said the government should make proper arrangements so that the tourists don’t face any problem during their stay in Uttarakhand.
