MP opens 23 lakh accounts in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has considered Sukanya Samridhi Yojana useful to fulfill the resolve of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao. It is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that the state is first in the scheme in country.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is our responsibility to help our daughters to fulfill their dreams for moving them ahead. Madhya Pradesh has made the achievement of opening about 23 lakh accounts under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, in which a total amount of more than Rs 4238 crore has been collected. Surely the tendency of savings is developing among the girls. There will be continuous efforts for their empowerment.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that more than 5 lakh 68 thousand Sukanya Samriddhi accounts were opened in Madhya Pradesh in the current financial year with thepostal coperation of the Department. Madhya Pradesh has secured first place in the country. The scheme has given a new direction to the empowerment of the daughters of the state. For this the postal department also deserves congratulations. Guardians and daughters have given full support to the scheme. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the most successful 7 years of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana have also been completed. The cooperation of banks has also been commendable. Surely, successful completion of 7 years of a meaningful plan is also a matter of satisfaction for all of us. Chief Minister Chouhan has urged all the district collectors of the state to connect other eligible girls with this scheme.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that in Madhya Pradesh, the postal Department is starting "Bachat Khata Khushhali Ka" campaign to provide banking facilities up to the last person of the village and to make them financially prosperous and self-reliant. This is a good initiative, in which all the districts can give a new direction to financial inclusion. Along with Sukanya accounts of girls, work is also being done to open PPF accounts for boys. This will help in making the families financially strong and self-reliant in rural areas.
