The Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar is holding a two-day Odisha Biotech startup Summit that was inaugurated by Odisha Minister for Science & TechnologyAshok Chandra Pandaon Wednesday.
Panda said science and technology applications are important in areas of agriculture, health and nutrition security as well as to create opportunity for startups in these sectors.
The Minister inaugurated an Expo at the ILS campus where there are 40 stalls showcasing products of agriculture, value-added products, industrial biotechnology, waste management, med-tech device and diagnosis, Bio-IT, BioPharma, Ayurveda products, Nutraceutical, chemical, food and wellness products and drug discovery.
A product “Fermented Rice Water Drink” developed by one of the Incubatees from the ILS Incubation Centre was launched.
ILS Director Prof Pulok K. Mukherjee appreciated the support from BIRAC and Startup Odisha for promoting bio-entrepreneurship. He mentioned that Odisha Biotech Startup Summit is the flagship biotech startup summit.
DrAmulya Panda, ex-Director NII, Dr BN Satapathy, DrGarima Gupta Scientist- F, DBT, also spoke. The summit will have six sessions covering the trends of innovation and opportunities in the biotech sector. It will also cover the essentials for entrepreneurship for the startups.
