The fishermen of Konark have filed a complaint petition before the district Collector, Puri, alleging that Puri-based “Shareen Traders” has illegally transported the boat engines meant for them under State Government subsidy scheme, to Andhra Pradesh for pecuniary benefits.
They have submitted a copy of the petition to the Chief Minister, Director General of Vigilance, Director of Fisheries and Director General, State Crime Branch, for necessary legal action against the trading organisation.
In the petition, it is alleged that the Greaves Company had supplied boat engines to the fishermen through the State Government, Odisha, under subsidy scheme but “Shareen Traders”, CT Road, Puri, Penthakota, has illegally transported the same to Andhra Pradesh. One K Prasad and his son K Mark are owners of the Sharinee Traders and they have been involved in the scam for the last 30 years and grabbing the subsidy amount.
On July 27, a Special Squad of Puri Commercial Tax seized 10 boat engines with an Ashok Leyland mini truck bearing Regn.No.OD-13Q 7725 at Sukala Chhaka under Puri district. The fishermen have demanded an impartial inquiry against Shareen Traders and stern legal action against the company owners.
