Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that better facilities should be made available to the tourists in the tourist destinations of the state. Special efforts should be made to preserve and make the heritage properties attractive.
Chouhan was reviewing the Tourism department in Mantralaya on Wednesday. Tourism Minister Sushri Usha Thakur, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Tourism Sheo shekhar Shukla and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that availability of varied experiences should be ensured for the tourists visiting the state. Water sports facilities should be made available in Indira Sagar, Gandhi Sagar and Madikheda Dam. Cruise should be operated in rivers. There is a beautiful bank of Narmada, where running a cruise can be very successful. Small cruises can be run in large numbers.
Chouhan said that Buddhist theme park in Sanchi, nature trail has been started in all the forest units, which is a commendable effort. He said that in different places like Amarkantak, Dhyan Kutirs can be promoted with the aim of providing peace to the people. Homestays should be developed in villages for rural tourism. Initially, the target is to develop home-stays in 100 villages in the state.
Chouhan said that advertisements like ‘Hindustan ka Dil Dekho†should be prepared to promote various tourist places in the state.
Chouhan said that youth should be provided employment by training them in the field of tourism and hospitality. Prepare Omkar circuit by linking Mahakal, Indore and Omkareshwar. People have the desire to see both the Jyotirlingas. The project to be built at other places including Mahakal temple should be promoted. Hot air balloon activity has been started in Bandhavgarh and Mandu festival, which should be taken further. Chouhan said that I don't think anything is more beautiful than Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that efforts should be made to establish tourism projects through private investment. Plans for district specific tourism should be made. What can be identified in Dhar and Khandwa district. Make each district its own identity. Collector Sehore has made a new circuit from Ginnaurgarh Fort to Sehore. Similarly, efforts should be made to promote tourism in each district. Along with the facilities of tourism, efforts should also be made for security. Efforts for private investment should continue.
