Explurger achieves another milestone, hits 2million downloads clocks 75 countries

Explurger app achieves another milestone as the app has hit 2 million downloads on App Store and Play Store. With its users spending an average of 17 minutes on the app, which is at par with other popular social media apps, the gamified social media app has expanded its footprint to over 75 countries

Explurger, founded by entrepreneur Mr. Jitin Bhatia and actor &Philanthropist Mr. Sonu Sood, is a made in India, new-age social media app, which instantly organizes all your travel journey and plans at one place. It is a first gamified social media app platform for connecting, sharing, and making friends. Users can share photos and videos, create travelogues automatically with the help of built-in AI, receive level-ups and more.

“It’s great to see users loving our app. Honestly, I had no doubt that we have built a terrific product. But when you get so much love, it’s a validation that makes you feel super. It’s an endorsement of our app’s virality quotient,” says the actor and social activist, Sood.

Even before the launch, the app had users from more than 40 countries, “ and now it is in more than 75 countries — which is an endorsement of our product’s global appeal and our social media app’s uniqueness”, says Bhatia. It’s interesting why Jitin thought of the app. All the major social media players worldwide have Indian-origin minds at the helm. But why does India not have social media apps to compete with the global platforms? That’s the question entrepreneur Jitin Bhatia asked himself. He and his friend Sonu Sood saw it as an opportunity to serve the nation and build a social media brand in India that would have “the world sit up and take notice”. And that’s how Explurger was born!

Explurger has been part of the Appscale Academy, a growth and development programme launched by MeitY and Google, where Indian start-ups are mentored on building high-quality apps for a global audience. The social media start-up was also recently recognized by Google in its "Top 10 Innovative Apps in India" list.

As far as more updates on the journey of the app is concerned, Users have cumulatively covered miles equivalent to circumnavigating the globe more than 3,972 times. Mr Bhatia shares insight on the same. “We are not just another social media app. We are your travel buddy. We store your precious memories for you, and your milestones too. And that’s how we know how much the Explurger users have travelled — everyone’s miles put together comes to going around the globe 3,972 times. Likewise, you store your photos and posts meaningfully and automatically with our app that’s backed by cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence. You, enjoy, we curate and keep your memories,” says Bhatia.

The Bucket List is another feature besides the automatic Travelogue, Sood tells us. "The Bucket List has also turned out to be a popular feature on Explurger. If you see someone Explurge-in at an interesting place, you can add that place to your Bucket List. This isn't your run-of-the-mill bookmarking feature. The app will automatically remind you when you are in that area. So even if it happens after years and you have forgotten all about it, Explurger will notify you that you had saved it in your list. So suppose your friend went to a very cool café in Goa and tried a nice delicacy. You can add that place to your Bucket List and your work is done. Now, the smart AI of the app will remind you to visit that café whenever you travel to Goa," shared actor and social activist Sonu Sood, who is the co-founder of Explurger.

Explurger also has an impressive 80% sign-up rate with an average engagement time of over 17 minutes, which is at par with other global social media apps. That's not all, the app boasts of a 90% retention rate of users who have travelled over 1,000 miles and have at least three cities logged in on their AI-generated travelogue.

Mr. Sood sheds light on a popular feature of the app which is the most viral with its users as of now. "The Bucket List has also turned out to be a popular feature on Explurger. If you see someone Explurge-in at an interesting place, you can add that place to your Bucket List. This isn't your run-of-the-mill bookmarking feature. The app will automatically remind you when you are in that area. So even if it happens after years and you have forgotten, Explurger will notify you that you had saved it in your list," he says.

Explurger has been selected by Google as one of the top 100 promising startups and top 30 mobile startups in India. An AI-powered social media app with a gamified user experience, it lets users connect and share their moments with friends and family online. The app goes beyond just sharing pictures and videos, it uses cutting-edge AI to automatically create travelogues of the memories users share on their profile. Whenever a user creates a post or 'Explurge-in', the app's AI updates the Travelogue, so every mile, city, country, pub, and club gets added.
