To strengthen the health services in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appointed principals in 12 under-construction medical colleges of the state.
Principal Secretary (Medical Education) Alok Kumar in his tweet said: "Principals have been appointed in 12 under-construction medical colleges. These medical colleges will be made operational from the 2023-24 academic session."
The districts where principals have been appointed include Amethi, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Gonda, Pilibhit, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lalitpur, Sultanpur and Sonbhadra. Currently, medical colleges are under construction in these districts and they will become operational in the next academic session.
Professor of obstetrics and gynecology, Dr Reena Sharma, has been appointed principal of autonomous state medical college, Amethi, while Dr Arvind Singh Kushwaha, posted at AIIMS Nagpur, has been made principal of medical college in Auraiya.
Dr Sajjan Lal Verma, professor in medical college, Deoria, has been appointed principal of medical college in Kanpur Dehat.
Dr Rakesh Kumar, posted at government medical college in Kannauj, has been made principal of medical college in Kushinagar while professor and head of pathology department, Dr Dhananjay Shrikant Kotasthan, of Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences, Varanasi has been appointed principal of medical college in Gonda.
Dr (Col) Rajat Srivastava, posted at Army College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, has been appointed principal of the medical college in Pilibhit.
Dr Manisha Jindal, professor and head of physiology department at School of Medical Sciences and Research, Sharda University, Noida has been appointed principal of medical college in Bulandshahr.
Dr Urmila Karya, professor and head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at LLRM Medical College, Meerut has been made principal of medical college in Bijnor and head of department Dr Shailesh Kumar Goyal, posted at Dr BSA Medical College, Rohini, Delhi, has been appointed principal, of medical college in Lakhimpur Kheri.
Dr Dwijendra Nath, posted as acting principal in government medical college, Jhansi, has been made principal of Lalitpur medical college. Professor and head of pharmacology department at Pratapgarh medical college, Dr Shailesh Kumar Goyal, has been posted as principal of medical college in Pratapgarh, while Dr Suresh Kumar Singh, professor at medical college in Basti, has been made principal of Sonbhadra medical college.
