A massive fire that broke out at the makeshift vehicles malkhana of Barwaadda police station located at the Agricultural Produce Market yard premises, damaged eight vehicles on Sunday that were seized by police.
The fire later was doused by fire tenders of the fire department but a question remains unresolved how the fire broke out.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Madhavi Mishra directed Sub-Divisional Officer Uday Rajak to hold an inquiry and report within 24 hours.
The inquiry assumes importance as district administration is all set to establish a strong room to store EVMs after polling and hold counting in view of Lok Sabha elections.
Incidentally, several coal laden seized trucks and other vehicles are still there even after the fire.
Meanwhile, the Barwaadda police station in-charge has been directed by SDM to investigate the causes of the fire incident and provide a clear investigation report within 24 hours. Besides, instructions have also been given to take necessary action as per rules to remove the seized vehicles from the premises.
